I have always been a very private all my life. I am shy at times but am also very opinionated when it comes to things I care about. A very ambitious person but in a nutshell I'm just some guy who lives my life according to what I believe is right and nor what is perceived as right by everyone else. "I would rather make my own mistakes than anyone else's".
(2) When did you develop the interest to start modeling?
Growing up I always loved fashion, my mum was always Fashion Forward and was the center of attention and she still is to this day. So I think my love for fashion grew from there and I knew I had to be apart of this amazing world of fashion.
(3) Who inspires you the most?
I am not inspired by anything cliché like a famous person but rather I find inspiration in normal ordinary people that fight for their dreams and give their very best to make those dreams a reality.
(4) Do you consider yourself a brand, and why?
Not yet a brand but am working towards that, cause to stay relevant in this industry you have to build a personal brand that people can buy into and and thats the only way people can take you seriously.
(5) Who do you work for / Who have you worked for that has given you motivation to do modeling?
Palse Homme was the first design house in South Africa that first believed in my potential as a model and the gave me my first runway job at Durban Fashion Fair 2013. My first television commercial was for Edgars last year. See that was a great experience. I had my childhood friends calling me telling me how proud they were of me. I've shot a couple of magazine editorials but the one that inspired me the most was working with the creative's at "Previdar Magazine" , they are a group of young people making an amazing difference at the way we look at Black Young People.
(6) Where do you see yourself in the next few years?
I never try to plan to far ahead rather I just try to live in the moment and really enjoy the place I am in but years from now I see great things, cause God keeps surprising me every day. I have come a long way and from a far distant country (Zambia). A country that doesn't believe modeling is career but to be here and doing what I love is a blessing on its own.
(7) How has the exposure manifest in your life?
It's been great but I never let it get to my head and I'm not in this industry to be popular because I feel popularity is for mediocre people. I love to keep my life private and separate, you'd get two Francis' : Francis The Model & Francis The Person
(8) Who is your icon?
My icon is certainly my Mother she's been through so much but still she has never given up. I am very much like her in so many ways and I'm a result of my mothers prayers.
(9) When you strike a pose what pops up in your head and makes you cower that one pose?
A perfectionist at hand so when I'm on set or on the runway I try to embody the most confidential part of me. I always try my best to give the client my 100 and 10 percent.
This year my target would be to book more jobs and just give my everything.
Message To The Aspiring :
"Any young person aspiring to follow his career path : Modeling is just like any other job and requires the same responsibility because a client isn't going to pay a model who shows up late or with bad attitude. Always stay humble and never compromise your morals to go ahead" - Francis.
